NUNO RAMOS

IN THE FIRST PERSON

NUNO RAMOS
Operations Manager at AS Glass/Axial Angola

I started my career in 1993, as an assistant clerk in an auto parts store on the south bank of the Tagus. I evolved into 1st category official clerk, until I became responsible for the company’s purchases. In 2006 I decided to go to Angola, and the following year I opened my own company of parts for heavy vehicles and industrial machinery in Portugal, directed exclusively to the angolan market.

I started my career in Nors in 2009, as a parts clerk in the company Stand Barata (now OneDrive), in Seixal, where I was later invited to be responsible for the international markets. In early 2011 the opportunity arose to return to Angola, as operations manager for AS Glass / Axial.

I am currently an operations manager at AS Glass / Axial Angola, where I am responsible for the coordination, control and orientation of all the activities in the area of operations: inventory, purchasing, back and front office teams.
The challenge is to ensure the performance of the teams, maximize productivity, ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty and position the Company in the market.

Undoubtedly my main achievement was to have gone through several levels within the organization up to my current position, which allowed me a constant evolution and accumulation of solid knowledge on a professional level. In AS Glass I had the privilege to gather the experience gained over many years in auto glass with the building glass, something unknown to me until then and that surprised me in a positive way, because it is a fascinating world. I am also happy for the opportunity granted to develop a project in a country where I has always felt comfortable.

One of the most rewarding aspects of working in Nors and AS Glass / Axial in particular is the fact that they always involve me in the decision making, and I have opportunities to present and develop my ideas. The weight of Angola in the Nors Group is undeniable, and that brings added responsibilities every day, to me in particular, forcing me to constantly seek solutions and develop tools to solve problems and achieve the desired goals in the company’s day-to-day.

The beach!! I love the beach and the sea; spending a Sunday at the beach frees the body and mind for the tough week ahead, which requires so much of our ability. The tranquility and peace of mind after a day by the sea contributes positively to my weekly performance.
