Volvo Driver Challenge 2018

Volvo Driver Challenge 2018

When it comes to profitability and success, the driver makes the difference

Auto Sueco Portugal, a company of the Nors Group, will organize the third edition of the Volvo Driver Challenge in Portugal that starts on June 15th. Following the success of the 2014 and 2016 editions, Auto Sueco and Volvo Trucks continue to believe that, when it comes to success, the driver makes all the difference. Therefore, they are committed, in this 2018 edition, to
finding the highest performing driver in terms of safety, efficiency and responsibility, but this time at the wheel of a Volvo FH LNG truck, which will be introduced to the domestic market next year.

The Volvo Driver Challenge is an initiative that has grown and evolved and now encompasses far more than the objective of the previous competition, which focused solely on fuel. This test aims to promote the profession of driver - painting him as the hero - and highlight the irreplaceable role that drivers play in terms of safety, fuel efficiency and productivity. In doing so, we will also increase the owner/customer's awareness of the importance of these professionals in their business and its success.

This way, we give life to Volvo Trucks values: zero accidents, zero emissions and maximum profit of the customer's business.

The race involves 72 drivers, who will be divided in groups of 24, selected by random draw, to compete in each of the 3 semi-finals, where each participant will race in an open circuit. There will be 4 finalists per semi-final.

The three semi-finals will take place during the month of June and with the first at Auto Sueco Portugal, in Maia, on the 15th and 16th. The second semi-final will be held on the premises of Ascendum in Albergaria on the 18th and 19th of June. Finally, on June 22nd and 23rd, the third semi-final will be organized in Lisbon ( S.J. da Talha), on the grounds of Auto Sueco Portugal.

All trials will be conducted with a Volvo FH LNG, the evaluation criteria being the consumption of kg of gas, the time of completion of the course and compliance with traffic rules.

The 2018 Volvo Driver Challenge National Final will take place on June 30 at the Centro de Formação Militar e Técnica da Força Aérea de Ota (The Military and Technical Training Center of the Air Force of Ota), (former Ota Air Base), and will be held in a closed circuit, where the 12 finalists will compete for the title of National Champion.

The Volvo Driver Challenge World Final will take place on September 13th and 14th in Gothenburg, Sweden.
